Students will learn how to navigate in the woods using an MGRS map, compass, and protractor. You will learn how to plot points on your map, how to use your compass and all of the features on it, different techniques for  navigating, and the benefits and downfalls of each method, your pace count, and how to figure out your location if you get lost.

Required Gear:

• Compass (commenga lensatic highly recommended, but baseplate works fine as well)
• protractor with 1:24,000 scale
• note taking materials
• Boots or hiking shoes
• Water
• lunch
• small backpack
• Eye protection
